Q. How long have you been a provender® Franchise Owner?
A. 1 ½ years
 
Q. What appeals to you about this particular vending franchise business?
A. The flexibility I have with my work. provender® also has this new technology which makes it very easy for me to track my machines from home. This is tracked via a GPRS system which is located in each machine and indicates how empty each lane is in the vending machines. provender® is a very friendly and helpful team of people who make sure that you take all the right steps towards a great start for your business and are still around to assist you throughout your career as a Franchise Owner.

Q. Was there a lot of work initially?
A. Yes. Initially I had to get use to all the vending machines I bought and provender®’s technology for these machines. It was important to take the time to build relationships with contacts on each existing site and with new leads that provender® provided. Understanding everything involved when working closely with the franchise office can be time consuming because they are very thorough.

Q. Has your workload increased or decreased?
A. My workload has increased. Once I became comfortable that I knew provender®’s machines well I started to increase the number of machines I owned in order to generate more income. In summer I am busier because my machines have more demand for their products this means I need to refill them on a more regular basis.  On the other hand that does drive in more profits.
 
Q. Is a vending franchise business difficult to manage?
A. No it’s very easy. Every machine is computerised thanks to provender®’s user friendly GPRS technology. This system helps me manage my entire business. I view online the products each machine requires, print it out, load the stock in my van and off I go.

Q. How do you plan to grow your vending franchise business further?
A. I need more sites and in order to do this I will be working closely with provender®’s Business Development Managers who generate new leads for Franchise Owners like me. provender® shows us how to best approach these potential clients in order to secure the lead. They provide us with a guide on securing leads that illustrates a step by step approach. My existing clients also refer my business to their contacts; this comes from building good relationships with your clients.
  
Q. Does being in the franchising business offer you flexibility or is that just a myth?
A. It is definitely not a myth. I am able to work when I like as long as I make sure that my machines are always stocked up. This gives me the flexibility to make time for other things in my life that I usually wouldn’t be able to if I was in a 9am to 5pm working environment.

Q. Where do you find the time to do non-work related activities? Do you get time?
A. I make the time when I need or want it. I can fill all my machines one day and take the next day off. My hours depend on my machines. If there is football match on that I would like to go to I work around it. Finding time has never been an issue as a Franchise Owner.

Q. Explain how the flexibility offered to you by your franchise business has changed your lifestyle?
A. I like spending time at home and since joining provender® I am able do a lot more of this. I can also enjoy my hobbies like swimming, motorbike racing and marshal arts. Spending time with my family is now very easy, meaning I don’t have to try hard to find the time. I don’t miss out on birthdays or dinners.

Q. What are some things you are able to do with your spare time now that you were not able to do prior to becoming a franchise business owner?
A. Taking a holiday before was difficult. Now I am able to make holiday plans whenever I’d like. I have full control of my own life and the plans within it. No one pushes me around. I really enjoy relaxing in front of the TV and am now able to do just that. I have all the time in the world for my family and friends. 

Q. What benefits does a home-based franchise business offer you?
A. Working from home with provender® comes with many tax benefits. I can claim on electricity among other things. I don’t travel daily which decreases my fuel consumption costs. I can sleep in and work late to make up the hours or the other way around. These are the joys of being your own boss.  

Q. Is the process of obtaining products for your vending machine difficult or time consuming?
A. No. provender® has already sourced suppliers for their Franchise Owners who are reliable and very efficient. As a Franchise Owner all I have to do is place my order online and the products are delivered to my doorstep. I truly believe that provender® makes things very easy for their Franchise Owners.

Q. What is your favourite vending machine and why?
A. Snakky Max – it is smaller than most vending machines and can fit anywhere therefore most companies will keep it on site.

Q. What made you choose franchising as a career option?
A. It is the safer option as compared to conventional businesses. 80% of conventional businesses that start up don’t make it and close down. With provender® there is the comfort and safety net of having a large support network backing you up and constantly looking out for the best interests of your business and always looking for ways to help you succeed.

Q. Are you happy with your franchise business choice?
A. Definitely. provender® has provided me with a flexible working environment in a company that also generate a desired level of revenue. I have total control of my business and in turn my current lifestyle.

Q. How does the franchise business differ or compare to your past jobs or career paths?
A. provender® has excelled in their technical support department. They have proven systems and expertise which are at my disposal. provender’s® provides the comfort of their large support system. Their Business Development Managers help with the progression of my business. If I ever get lazy and stop putting in the effort to develop / grow my business further, they are there to remind me.  

Q. Describe your average weekend as Franchise Owner?
A. Many things. I like to do mostly relaxing things such as swimming, going to the movies with friends, gardening, playing computer games. I am mostly an indoors type of person.

Q. Do you feel the need to employ someone to help run your vending franchise business?
A. No. provender® has made it very easy with its computerised system. I can stack all my machines and still have a lot of time for myself. I still have a lot of room for growth. The only time I would consider hiring someone is if my business grew a lot from what it is now. I currently have 17 sites with a total of 45 machines.  Hiring someone would definitely not be in the near future.

Q. Is there any advice you would like to give to potential Franchise Owners?
